MineQualityIntroduction

How do rough gemstones get from the mine to the market? Are the choice stones reserved for only a select few, or can anyone access the enormous wealth locked in precious gems around the globe? What if you could brave the dangers and go direct to the mine to get the best deal on gemstones?

The supply chain for loose colored gemstones is a mystery to many, including many gem dealers and jewellers. One thing is for certain though, by the time coloured gemstones arrive in the marketplace, they have typically passed through dozens of hands since the miner dug the material out of the ground. Each pair of hands that touches the gems adds another 20-50% on to the final selling price. Our company was founded on the idea of bridging the gap between the end consumer and the source of supply. Imagine the advantages and tremendous value if a gem purchaser was able to cut out the dozens of middlemen in the buying process.

Global Challenges
One reason the supply chain for colored gems is a bit of a mystery is that coloured stones, unlike diamonds, are mostly mined by independent, small-scale miners. The mines themselves are often located in remote regions and in some of the most dangerous parts of the world where law and order are often conspicuously absent. Travellers, especially foreigners often face perils in the form of political strife, bandits, or armed local instability and quite literally put their lives at risk travelling between major cities and the remote wilderness of the mines.

Mine Direct

"Mine Direct" Concept

Traditionally there are up to 15 middlemen in the gem distribution process, each with a mark-up of between 15-150%. We deal with source of supply and essentially manufactures the gems through the cutting, polishing, and finishing process. This allows us to retain the margins and stored value associated with bypassing the entire distribution channel. The mine direct concept allows us the luxury of marketing a variable price structure to all levels in the supply channel, with margins increasing dramatically towards the consumer market.

Appraisal

Appraisals

We only use accredited 3rd party appraisers and industry leaders for the gem valuation ( EGL, GIA, IGI, Gemscan, etc..) This ensures the integrity of the program is maintained and clients will always, and without question, receive value in excess of what they paid even at the retail level.
